There are books you will never pick up to read, some you will read 1/2 way and quit, and some which you wish would never end. “Danger Beyond Intrigue” by H. L Valdez is the latter, hands down.

There are books you will never pick up to read, some you will read 1/2 way and quit, and some which you wish would never end. “Danger Beyond Intrigue” by H. L Valdez is the latter, hands down… I can say that the book cost me some sleep on nights when I was too reluctant to stop reading and read far into the night. It is, at once, an exciting tale of misfits formed to fight entrenched drug cartels – Chinese Triads, Japanese Yakuza and Mexican drug gangs which takes place in their respective countries, to include the States. Each of the misfits has a distinct personality with deep character flaws, but, each has been chosen for various skills to complete the mission assigned. Valdez is an expert on the subject of drug organizations and has worked in the field of law enforcement to combat them. He weaves the tale with actual historical occurances and added cultural information to give authenticity to the story as to times and places for a “You are there” feeling. Also, as I was able to personally be involved in some of the events detailed, I can vouch for the realism Valdez has ‘painted’ in the background story scenery. His style of writing has the reader identify with a character vicariously. I recommend that you go to his web site www.hlvaldez.com and watch him being interviewed. I believe you will be in a hurry, then, to own and read his book. It’s worth consideration to be made into a movie – an exciting movie, at that!
